Planner Girls Collective: My 2017 Planner Set-Up

Hey Everyone,
Happy New Year and Welcome to a fresh series of Planner Girls Collective (formally Confessions Of A Plannerholic) posts.

A new year signifies for me a new planner set-up.

Over the last 12 months I’ve finally realised what works for me and what doesn’t.

No matter how much I want many pretty and colourful spreads, I am more of a functional planner. I have managed to find a nice compromise that suits my needs for pretty decor vs function.

My Handbag planner will be my Pursedori. I used this for the last 3 months of 2016 and found it to suit my needs perfectly.

In this I have a blank page notebook, cardboard folder and a week on one page diary.

It’s the perfect size for popping in my bag and the popper front means it’s easy to use.

My Blog planner is the Hobbycraft Geometric planner. This has a totally different layout to any other planner I’ve used but I’m really liking the style. As the pages are decorated I can just get on with planning. My blog is probably what takes up the majority of my time even compared to my business. It also requires the most planning.

My business planner is the Heidi Swapp planner. I don’t use this often given that the majority of my time is spent waiting for goods to arrive. But it is still a necessity to plan everything I need, invoices, bills etc.
The size of this is perfect. I was going to use another planner to start with but this has nice big pockets and because I don’t need to utilise it as much as my other two planners I can decorate this much more.

My Book Journal, last year I was using the Nordic Nights ringbound from Paperchase but this year I am using a beautiful Harry Potter Hardback notebook I had received for Christmas.

My Creative Journal is still my mint Webster’s Pages Traveler’s Notebook. Nothing has changed with this one.

I am also going to use the WHSmith Rose Gold Moderna planner for household things such as storing important letters, bills, information etc.

My Go-To Everyday planner is my brand new and adored Mini Happy Planner with it’s gold cover.

Thanks for reading and please feel free to drop me a comment or link to a post showing your 2017 set up.

My Book JournalĀ

I love reading. I have been an avid reader since I was very young and I imagine that I will continue to be as I get older.

I never usually track my books, take notes or review them on paper (I’ve done a few reviews on this blog).

Since getting the Webster’s Pages Traveler’s Notebook I decided to create a book journal insert so I could make notes on the books I am reading, review them, write about them and then eventually I will convert them into blog posts.

I started my book journal with a little book shelf picture I drew and listed each book I wanted to read before moving on to others.

While I haven’t been using it long I do really enjoy making notes in it and writing down my thoughts on the book.

I’d love to hear from you if you keep a book journal and are an avid reader. Do you have any tips of what to record in the journal I may not have thought of?

Thanks for reading.

Half-Year Planner Set-Up Review

I know I am a little late with this post but they do say it’s better late than never!

When I started the year I had the lovely Leuchtturm 1917 in action along with a Ban.do and personal planner among others.

6 Months later I have to admit my set-up has completely changed.

It’s a constant ‘working’ progress to see what fits with my lifestyle, especially as it changes and evolves.

So let’s have a look at what I am using now.

Wellness Planner by Kikki-K. This is my everyday planner,  tracks everything from cleaning, orders, appointments and expenses. This is by far my most used planner. The biggest change is that I have gone from personal to A5. I find this much better especially since I don’t take it out with me, it allows therefore for more use and purpose.

Walnut Webster’s Pages Traveler’s Notebook. This is my blog planner and my most recent change. Prior to this I was using the Wellness for blog planning and a Carpe for everyday. I like having the seperate books which I can take out as and when necessary plus it’s easier to carry about if I need to take it out of the house. Plus how nice does it look with the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows charm from AlyMarinaCraft

Mint Webster’s Pages Traveler’s Notebook. This is a completely new addition with a completely new purpose. This is my creative ‘journal’. In here I have a journal, book journal, doodles book, quotes book and Projects. I use paints, pens and lots of ephemera in this and it is my favourite by far. It’s nice to have somewhere to just scribble, write, doodle and let go.

Nordic Personal Planner by Paperchase. I got this in the sale recently simply because I’d lusted after it since it was released in 2015. I wasn’t using this until yesterday however due to a new business venture I have now decided to use it to write down all the business specific things to keep them seperate and in one place.

Adelphi pocket size by Filofax. I have so much love for this little gem. This is my handbag planner. It has details I meed to carry about for my job, volunteering job and everything I need to buy while out and errands to run. It’s not neat, decorated or anything. It’s just there to perform a function. If I am out and need to note something I will in this then transfer it to the right planner when I am home.

I also have two clipbooks for studying but they are literally only for that purpose and not decorated or anything.

I think I have covered them all now. I have the new Reset Girl Carpe Diem in Ballerina coming in August as I preordered it. I will in all likelihood swap my everyday planner to that but I’m not sure yet as I don’t want the Wellness planner to not have a function.

Stay tuned for more info on my business venture as I am sure you book lovers will enjoy this:)

Creative Journaling in my Travelers Notebook

image

I have always wanted to start creative journaling but due to my perfectionist issues I have put it off.

However after watching some YouTube videos from Geraldine Jayne I decided that I was going to give it a whirl.

As it turns out I absolutely love it. Every planner I own is functional so I have decided the Websters TN will be for my creative endeavours.

Creative Journaling is such much fun and I really feel it’s good for the mind and soul. I’m exploring different materials to use and techniques to try.

I’ve even found that I am more aware of my surroundings,Ā  everything I look at is an opportunity to include in my creative journal.

I’ve even added things like watercolour paint, leaves, photos etc.
There is no definitive way to get started, everyone’s journal is unique.

I’ve now found other YouTubers to follow as they have some great ideas, tips and trick. Anna Brim and My Green Cow are two of them, along with Geraldine.

Here are some photo’s of my progress so far.

Do you have a creative journal and find it therapeutic? If not but you think it is something you’d enjoy I’d definitely try it šŸ™‚

Webster’s Pages TN Review and Set-Up

tmp_1075-14646762812832016605082.jpg

I was kind enough to receive the mint coloured new Webster’s Pages travelers notebook in a swap from a friend. I’d been eyeing these up for a while but really couldn’t justify the cost when I wasn’t sure of it’s quality or whether I’d use it.

When I first received it I was amazed by the colour, I had seen the pictures but it was so much nicer in person.

The leather quality is really nice too, it’s not too floppy but has lots of give, the internal fabric is really nice too.

The elastics are not too taught and have some nice give without having too much. This is bigger than a standard TN, in fact I could fit my full TN with it’s inserts inside this one without issue.

For me one of the best parts are the internal pockets, including a photo pocket. I love these. It’s just like the planner pockets in the ringed Websters Pages.

This would easily fit 6 inserts, if not more. I currently have 4 in there and there is so much more space.

I have set up mine to be my journal and creative space. I am still waiting for some inserts to arrive but I will show you what I have put together so far.

I’d love to know if you use a Webster’s TN and what you think of it and how do you use it?
