Planner Reflections and 2018 Set-up

Hey everyone.

Can you believe it’s the end of 2017 already? I feel this year has flown by. I haven’t been as active on here over the last few months but I have never been so busy.

Like many people I suffer from twitchy fingers and I have an inability to relax meaning I take on far too much, which for me came crashing down when I got very sick in November.

However, things are on the mend and I’ve really taken stock of 2017 and what I aim to do going forward. Tomorrow there will be a post as part of the Planner Girls Collective where I will share my goals for 2018 so for today let’s reflect over what I’ve changed.

When 2017 began I was in a pocket size TN and enjoying it. About March I swapped back to a ring planner but it didn’t last more than 2 months. Since then I have been in a TN just in various sizes. I have tried personal, micro, A6 and now I’m in B6.

I have cut back a lot on decoration and find I am rarely using washi at all and stickers are more for function and mild decor.

I really have homed in on what I need from a planner and the purpose it should serve. I no longer seek to have that ultimate pretty planner and lust after everyone else’s, it’s simply not for me.

My 2018 set-up is pretty much the same as how I’ve finished 2017 which the exception of one Planner which I’ve introduced.

So what am I using?

For my everyday carry – do everything planner which houses a weekly diary, monthly overview, book reviews insert, to-do insert and 2 notebooks (dot and lined). This will be my B6 Cinnamon Stick Nayadori.

I am also using the beautiful B6 meadowgate for my business which has a simple incoming order tracker, outgoing order tracker and notebook in.

My new addition which is stunning is the Recollections horizontal planner with the Galaxy cover. I am using this for my studies. I learnt at the end of this year I need to plan my studies out much better than I am as my Masters is getting so much focus my diploma has fallen to the wayside.

So there we have it my 2018 set-up. I would love to know what you’ll be using in the new year so feel free to pop me a comment below:)

Study Woes and Pretty Planners

Hey,

Well I have to say that my studies have been a bit of a nightmare so far. I spent most of November really ill and in and out of hospital which has had a massive impact on my studies and I am seriously behind.

My first TMA was due on the 30th November but I was granted an extension until 14th December. It’s now the 13th and I’m still not finished. My toddler was poorly and off nursery and very clingy so I’ve literally just started getting my mornings back.

It’s a 1500 word assignment primarily on the doctrinal approach and the strengths and weaknesses of this approach.

I have about 500 words so far on the strengths and I will type the rest up this morning.

It has been a very interesting topic especially in using mental capacity to highlight the pitfalls of using such an approach. The next block which I am 2 weeks years behind on is regarding the historical approach to legal research, this also looks like an interesting block to do.

I can’t tell you how relieved I am that we have the Christmas break off as it will give me a chance to catch up on everything as I will admit I am starting to feel overwhelmed by how far behind I am. I particularly like to read a lot around subjects and currently don’t feel like I have the option to do it much due to the amount I am behind. It’s a good job I love to study:)

On the plus side I have a beautiful new study planner which I will be using for 2018 and I plan to break things down better so I am always more aware of what’s coming up. I have another TMA due on the 1st Feb and I start Jury Service on 29th January so I must get it done before then as I really won’t have time otherwise.

I am really looking forward to going into the new year. I feel like after this year things can only get better and I want to excel at what I’m doing. I haven’t even looked at my Fiction Writing course since October, that’s my problem with non deadline courses. I’m going to set myself deadlines for that one as well so it doesn’t get left behind especially as writing is important to me.

Anyway that is enough rambling from me thanks for reading:)

P.S for those who are interested, the Galaxy 2018 planner is a Recollections branded planner from Michaels in the U.S. A beautiful soul (Francesca) brought one over for me on her visit to the U.K. The top planner is a Nayadori from Naya Paperie and it is a B6 travelers notebook in cinnamon stick colour

Meadowgate Leather Traveller’s Notebook {Review}

Hey Everyone. Today I’m going to share with you my review for the Meadowgate Leather B6 Traveler’s Notebook I purchased last month.

I had seen these about for sometime and knew I needed to try the B6 size. A fellow planner addict had this colour (Violet) and I fell in love with it.

The wait was agonising as I was desperate to get my hands on it and it really was worth the wait.

The smell hit me as soon as I opened the package. Real leather…it was so nice. The feel is soft and it is really supple and sturdy. The colour changes slightly in different light and it really is stunning.

The quality is amazing, the pockets and spine are great on it. It may not hold a massive amount of books but it easily fits 4-6 in. I didn’t order a wide size which you would need to stuff it with more.

The one I ordered was the Double Acorn design and as you can see from the pictures it’s beautiful. You can purchase one here

Writing TN Set Up

I finally got my writing TN set up completed. A while ago I bought a second hand Meadowgate TN from someone who had customised it with ink droplets and it was perfect.

I finished setting it up yesterday when my friend Kirstyanne brought me a NaNoWriMo insert for it.

(I’ll drop shop links below).

I have put in it;

  • A NaNoWriMo insert
  • A general writing insert full of prompts, info, ideas etc
  • A insert with chapters and writing info for my current work in progress
  • A tasks and notes insert to track everything I need to do.
  • My writing journal

I also have some cheetsheets and resources tucked in the back pocket.

I am so happy with it, not just how it functions but the style of it.

Now for the links.

Queen Mabel and Doris PR Kit

Hey everyone. I’ve been absent for a few weeks now as I’ve had a lot going on in my personal life that left me no energy to do pretty much anything else. I am however, back and I’ll be kicking off my return with a post showing you my Queen Mabel and Doris PR Kit.

I received the kit with 4 beautifully covered inserts, 2 sticker sets and 2 paperclips.

The stickers are from The Mix Match Planner and the Christmas ribbon paperclip was from Scarlet Moon Crafts.

The inserts were all for Christmas inspired planning and came in A5. Unfortunately my Christmas TN is standard size so I’ve popped them in a generic pink one for now and I’ll purchase an A5 closer to the time.

Each booklet was slightly different and ranged from gifts and cards, meal planning and shipping to journaling and decor.

I’m really looking forward to getting them all set up and used. There are some more really nice covers available as well in the shop.

You can also use my discount for 10% off your purchase.

SecretDiaryCo Travelers Notebook {Review and Set-Up}

You know I love nice pretty planners. Well, I was really excited when a friend of mine decided to start making and selling traveler’s notebooks.

I was lucky enough to receive a really nice surprise that she had made for me in my favourite colours.

I was surprised at just how big this was. It is an A6 size but it fits so much. I have set it up as a writing planner while I work on my novel.

There are two really nice large pockets in it and unlike a standard design TN it is a trifold with a popper opening. Just look at the rose gold metalwork!

Here Are some more beautiful pics of my set up.

The beautiful vellum dashboard is from FabPlannerPrint and the paperclip are from Notes and Clips.

To order one of Sarah’s amazing TN’s or one of her monthly TN Planner Kits then you can visit her website here.

Small Business Spotlight: Love From Poppy Designs

636256887042878439_Afterlight_Edit

Today I have the lovely Beverley over at Love From Poppy Designs.

1) Tell us a little about you, who is the person behind the shop?

Hi, I am Bev, a 34 year old mum of two little Edwards’.  Poppy is 6 and Chester is 4.  My husband and I both have our very own mini me’s.  I grew up in Northampton before travelling and eventually settling up in the North West after a move prompted by my husband’s job.  Before I had children I worked as a beauty therapist and later an office manager.  I love my job now, and the fact I can work around the children makes it the best type of job I could’ve hoped for.

2) What does your store sell?

My shop is relatively new and I sell Leather Travelers Notebooks and plan to add accessories and all of the elements that create a functional, pretty and useful planner.  The covers are made from very high quality leather and are handmade and tooled from start to finish.  Every aspect of the creative process is done by me and it is a process I love and take the care and attention to ensure only the highest quality products leave my workshop.

3) Is there an item which you have made that you have loved above all others?

It’s hard to pick one product because I love them all! If I had to pick my favourite would have to be the A6 traveler’s notebook.  I love the size and how although it is compact, there is still so much room to write everything you need to.

4) What is your most popular seller?

My most popular seller is the Pocket Wide TN.  I think Pocket size is very popular at the moment as printables and inserts are becoming more readily available thanks to the fabulous designers such as AnniePlans and Homemade Kraft.  It is also a brilliant portable size but with the addition of my pockets it makes it a lovely every day carry.

5) What inspired your shop name?

My shop name was inspired by my daughter! When I was in the first few months of being a new mum, I knew I didn’t want to work outside of the home again if I could help it.  I bought a sewing machine and used old clothes as material and taught myself to sew.  I made lots of items, just for me really and to use in my baby changing bag.  People started to ask me to make them bits too and it really went from there.  The Love From part was my way of making it seem like a gift was arriving every time somebody bought something.  Poppy was my inspiration for learning this new craft so it made sense for me to add her name instead of my own.  I do get messages sometimes where people call me Poppy and it makes me smile.

6) What planner do you use?

The planner I use at the moment is one of my own, an A6 yellow TN and I am in love!! I call it my brain and everything goes into it, new ideas, plans for the future, regular planning for the family schedules and notes and lists galore!  I use Annie Plans A6 sized inserts and growing up goddess daily pages.

7) What is your planning style?

My planning style is pretty much ‘on the go’.  I will sit down on Sunday evening and begin the groundwork, of putting down things I know that will be happening that week, swimming for my daughter, preschool for my son etc.  Then I check it every day and write down my ‘to do’s’ for that day.  Any future plans I have go on a post it ready to be moved over to the next booklet if it isn’t already in there.  I use minimal decoration and functional stickers only.  I do love memory keeping in my journal so I save my creative stickers and washi for that one.

8) What are your social media channels?

My Instagram is @lovefrompoppydesign and I have a Facebook page which is also Love from Poppy Designs.  I am planning on opening a group so everyone can see new products and interact and gather inspiration from each other within the TN community.  It’s on the very long list of things to do 😉

9)What is your planner ‘unicorn’?

My unicorn planner is not so much the planner, but the inserts! My unicorn planner is the one I have now.  But insert peace is something I have struggled with for a while.  I have however been very happy in my Annie Plans monthly booklets so I think I’m pretty much there.

10) What is the link to your shop?

My shop is LoveFromPoppyDesigns and please come over and take a peek.  I am going to be adding more and more to it over the coming months and it would be great for you to join the journey!

Thank you for reading.

Small Business Spotlight: FabPlannerPrint

636256887042878439_Afterlight_Edit
Today I have the lovely Toni from FabPlannerPrint.
1) Tell us a little about you, who is the person behind the shop?

Hi, I’m Toni, I’m a mummy to one very active and cheeky 21 month old. I’m from Mid Wales, and absolutely love the area. I’m getting married this year to my amazing partner (he can tell the difference between a Filofax and a Kikki K, and a TN a keeper for sure) so exciting, my family knows me well as they bought me a purple A5 Malden as an engagement present to plan the wedding.  I’ve always loved planners I think my first was a filofax at the age of 13, I used to doodle all over it but it was primarily to record my nail polish collection. I’d have lots of little swatches and the names and carry it around so I didn’t buy the same polish twice.

I’ve always been creative, art and craft. I studied art throughout school and went to college and completed a fashion and clothing construction course so fabric holds a special place in my heart. Maybe I’ll do something with fabric in the shop at some point.

I started the shop to have something for me, going from working full-time to being a stay at home Mum was a shock to the system, I’m also quite shy meeting people so an online shop is perfect for me.  I never thought I’d actually sell anything and now I still can’t believe I am. I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve had in the last 8 months. I’ve made some fab friends and met so many lovely people along the way. My design team has been amazingly supportive.  I’ve been overwhelmed by how lovely the planner community is.
2) What does your store sell?

Stickers, lots of stickers. You can never have enough, right? My focus is on kits, weekly and monthly for a whole range of planners. I also do custom orders for inserts and dividers but I’m hoping to get my dividers and page markers in the shop soon.

3) Is there an item which you have made that you have loved above all others?

It’s got to be my original boho themed kits. It’s the kit in the shop that is the most ‘me’. I originally made it in the personal and happy planner size but have added to the collection now as it’s been so popular. It was the first kit I made and I love it. I’ve used it so many times in my own planners, I don’t think I’ll ever get board of it.
image1
4) What is your most popular seller?
Ohhh there are a couple that are neck and neck, the boho mentioned above and the night sky kits are old favourites. The newer Vintage Tea party kit has been a hit.

5) What inspired your shop name?

I’m so awful at picking names, I called on my Mum to help and she came up with FabPlannerPrint. If you knew me you’d be able to tell why in a few minutes. Everything is fab! I say it all the time. The plan originally was to offer printable items hence the print part. I’ve moved to printed stickers but still love the name.

6) What planner do you use?

Ok, you can’t have too many planners can you?
A personal planner (I change the planner quite a lot) I use this as my handbag (really a changing bag, I can’t wait to have a handbag again) planner.
A classic Happy Planner as my home planner.
A5 purple Malden is my wedding planner.
A Websters TN rose Gold as my business planner.
A mini Happy Planner is for my other business
I also have a ECLP, an A5, and am on the hunt for a large Happy Planner as I use them for the shop to do layouts and kit tests. I may also sneak some personal planning bits in them as well, can’t let those stickers go to waste.

7) What is your planning style?

It changes constantly, there has been so many life changes over the last couple of years that it needs to be updated all the time. That’s part of the fun for me as well. I always have some decoration but I love functional box stickers, washi strips any thing that will help me pack as much info  on the page as I can.

8) What are your social media channels?

My shop Facebook group, lots of exclusive offers here as well as ooops sale packs and where you can get your hands on a loyalty card.

Facebook page

Twitter
@FabPlannerPrint

9) What is your planner ‘unicorn’

I have my unicorn! My partner picked me a personal Aqua Malden  a few years ago and it remains my favourite. I just love everything about it.

My Christmas Planner

Tis the season to be jolly…

It’s December!  weeee finally it’s excusable to play Christmas songs, wear Christmas jumpers and watch Home Alone.

It also means it’s time to break out all the Christmas planners and accessories.

Now unlike most people I don’t ‘plan’ Christmas. I do have a planner but it’s not to write my plans in. I use it instead to Journal My December. I may add my Card list and anything I need to remember but that’s about it.

This year I am using a beautiful festive TN from Geekydori. I snagged this in the Black Friday sale for £8.50 and it came with a lovely free insert.

I have ordered some pretty snowflake inserts but I am still waiting for them to arrive.

Now, obviously I didn’t just leave it plain. I have Christmas’d it up.

I used the snowman sticky notes from the UglyBugDoes December Planner box, the Santa magnetic clip I won and the beautiful Dashboard from the Little Rainbow Moon December Mystery kit. I the added further accessories using gift tags etc.

This is the first page in my journal so far.

While I am posting my set up I’ll show you the full contents of the Little Rainbow Moon kit. It was my first kit and I am absolutely in love with it.

I also got this new addition today from Stitch and Weave.

So there you have it, my Christmas planner. I may just post an update on my journaling pages next week.

I’d love to know are you using a Christmas planner? Have you gone for a festive set-up?

Thanks for reading.
