Confessions Of A Plannerholic: Planner Regrets

Today’s post is all about planner regrets.

For me there is one very specific thing that I regret, selling my Ochre Malden.

Milly the Malden is my only seller’s regret item. I miss her so much. I have vowed as soon as I get some money to spare I will buy one again, even if it does take years lol.

I don’t really have any other regretsas such. Part of me regrets in some way spending the money I have over the years but on the other hand it’s been necessary to help me discover what suits me and what I love.

I’m lucky that I’m quite decisive and once I find something that works it’s all I need and I’ve managed to find what I like in a relatively short space of time. I know some who have been searching for planner peace for many years unsuccessfully.

For now though I will keep mourning the loss of Milly the Malden.

Future Planning and Weekly Checklist

image

Everybody loves to save time, in a society that is constantly looking to be productive and organised there are always tips and tricks to minimise the time we spend doing the tasks we need to get through each week.

I am one of these people, even though I am not currently working I am always on the lookout for ways to be productive with the time I do have.

I rarely get any time to myself and when I do it’s usually spent planning the next day, week ahead, on my blog, reading etc. I like to try and get as much done within that time as I possibly can otherwise it can be a good few days before I get any more time (toddlers are soooo demanding).

Well I thought I would share with you some of my tips and tricks when it comes to planning productivity and my weekly task checklist to ensure I have those little things accounted for.

When it comes to planning there are a few things which I like to do in advance.

1) Decoration – I always decorate 4 weeks at a time. I like to know that everything is ready to use as and when it maybe needed. Some people may not like this as decorating weekly is part of their planning process however I leave my blog planner to do weekly but always pre-decorate my everyday. It’s one less thing for me to worry about.

2) Schedule Tasks – Once I have decorated my 4 weeks I then go through and add in any birthdays, appointments, calls, emails that are upcoming and I schedule in all my tasks such as laundry, rubbish, ironing, hoovering etc. I have a housework schedule that rarely differs week to week so it’s easy enough to do.

3)  Monthly Goals – At this point I usually write up my goals for the next month ahead. What I want to have achieved when it comes to doing my next set of weeklies. This is also handy to look back on to see where you may have failed, mistakes you’ve made and what you’ve learnt

So there are my top top 3 future planning tips.

Each week however I have checklist which I like to do through to ensure that some actions are taken care of but the days can differ week to week.

image

My weekly checklist consists of;

1) Scheduling ‘me’ time – I have to do this to ensure that I remember to look after myself. If I didn’t I’d end up doing housework or things for other people. I also use this time for blog planning, decorating and other planner goodness.

2) Schedule ‘miscellaneous’ time – This is just time where I plan not to plan. This for anything that may pop up that needs dealing with quickly that couldn’t be planned. This to to try and maximise productivity with my other tasks and minimise distractions.

3) Weekly To-Do List – This is pretty self explanatory. I list all the tasks I want done for the week and then prioritise the top 3-5 that are essential.

4) Menu Planning and Shopping List – I don’t plan my meals in advance for each day, instead what I do is write down 7 meals that I want for that week and just tick off which I have when I have them. That way I can be a bit more flexible with how I feel on that day. I also write a shopping list to correspond to what I need.

5) Theme My Days – This is an idea which was originally from Alexis over on Strange And Charmed and it’s very simple and rather brilliant.
Plan your days tasks according to their category, for example; do all house work in the same day, all paperwork in the same day etc. This maximises your focus and makes productivity higher.

There you have it, how I future plan and weekly plan.

If you have any tips or tricks I’d love to know them. I am always looking for ways to improve my process.

Positivity In My Planner

I have a section in my planner dedicated to Inspiration. Part of that is everything to do with keeping me positive.

To start with I have my gratitude wheel. I have this at the front as It is my go to thing when I need a bit of a nudge in the right direction and I am feeling sorry for myself.

DSC_0016

After this I have my Mission Statement. This is my mission to myself for 2016.

DSC_0017

Next I have a list of Affirmations. I need to add some quotes to this too as I currently have them all set up in my Leuchtturm.

DSC_0018

I then have my top list for remaining positive. Suffering from depression means that some days are really bad days and it takes a bit more to pull myself up. I like having this list as a quick go to for ideas to try.DSC_0019

Finally I have my life goals map. This is to remind me of the things I want in life. Been positive is a must If I want to achieve even a fraction of these things. It’s always good to remind myself what it is I want and what I have to keep fighting for. This is my purpose!

DSC_0020

I am sure this part of my planner will continue to evolve as I find things that give me inspiration and keep my outlook on the up.

Do you have a journal or section dedicated to positivity and/or inspiration?

Pretty Planner Purchases #2

Welcome to another Pretty Planner Purchases post. I have been waiting a while to post this as I had things arriving at different times. I have come across some really nice things both online and in shops that I just cannot wait to share with you.

So let’s crack on shall we:)

Dividers

My lovely Websters Pages dividers had become quite tatty so they needed replacing. I bought this lovely set of Ancient Map dividers from My Pretty Week on Etsy. They were fairly well priced and I opted for the front and back doing. They did take a long time to arrive, almost two weeks so not ideal if you are in a hurry but they are handmade and I’m glad that they were not rushed as that may have ruined the quality. The dividers are very sturdy but not laminated. I love them and think they are really good quality. I would most definitely go back to buy more again.

Paperclips

I got these from the store Cherry Blossoms In The Market Square on Etsy and they are absolutely divine. They are made really really well and extremely sturdy for your planner. There are so many designs that I had trouble just sticking to these. The Unikitty was for my daughter, the bow and planner nerd were for me:)

Stickers

Now I may have had a little splurge on stickers this time. I got some really nice decorative and functional ones.

I got these really tiny and cute functional household stickers from Small Stuff Creations on Etsy. I love how small they are, they fit perfectly in my Filofax personal. They are really well priced at 80p per sheet and arrived within 3 days of me ordering. You can see from the picture than I am not exaggerating, they are tiny:)

Next I got some purely decorative stickers from The Organised Panda on Etsy. I adore the vintage floral themes at the moment and its hard to find something that I can use as everything is geared towards the ECLP or Happy Planner. Again these are amazing quality, great prices and super quick delivery.

Lastly I ordered some sticker from Chocho and Mimi on Etsy. I got a mix of decorative and functional stickers and I have to say I was blown away by the quality of these and the free sample sheet that arrived was perfect. I love the little touches with these like the name card that now sits in my planner pocket. I will definitely be ordering from here again.

Washi

The washi I purchased has not come from an on-line store this time, most however be purchased that way.

I found these two really pretty sets in Paperchase. They come in a set of 8 and cost £8. I really like the Serengeti theme set more than anything, but who can resist rainbows and sparkles?:)

IMG_20160310_201651

My next washi purchase was from The Works. It was a set of 3 vintage tapes for £2, as I said previously I am really loving the vintage theme so this was perfect.

My last washi purchase was within a Facebook group. I managed to get hold of the rare Harry Potter tape. It was well worth the cost too £13 as I had been looking everywhere for it. I love it so much:)

Postcards

I also picked up these gorgeous postcards from Paperchase too. I thought they would make fantastic dividers or for little notes to friends. They were 70p each

Plan With Me #1

Hello and Welcome to my first ever plan with me.

First of all let me say that I hope you like a little insight into my planning world and secondly I am surprised a few people asked as I generally keep things pretty simple:)

Also, I am hoping to have guest ‘plan with me’ posts as well so if you are interested in showing us how you set up your week either using videos or photos then please let me know:)

Unfortunately when I first started my planner journey I didn’t pay much attention of where I purchased things from, I also took part in many many U.S swaps so as a result many sources for my materials used are unknown. I will tag them where I remember though.

This week I went with something bright and fun. Spring is on it’s way and I wanted it to be reflected in my pages.

I use the Websters Pages week on 2 pages design as my Diary.

Ok so now for the fun stuff.

Usually I like to layer my washi but I felt this was quite busy and didn’t really need anything to add depth to it. I got both of these in a swap so I don’t know where they come from.DSC_3215.JPG

The stickers are mostly from ThePlumpPlanner and ItsOnlyMeCaralee both on Etsy. Karen Pringle who runs ThePlumpPlanner designs such beautiful stickers and the quality is amazing. This is my ultimate favourite go to Etsy shop along with ItsOnlyMeCaralee as I love her little household chores icons they fit perfectly in a personal size planner. It would be nice to see more who accommodate those of us who do not use an ECLP or Happy Planner without having to get them custom made.

The To-Do stamp is a roller stamp which I got via my My Little Box subscription on month and I used it with VersaMagic dew drop ink pad.

The pen I use is a Uniball Signo Sakura 0.38.

This is my finished weeks décor:)

The Best of The Rest!

I am a little late getting around to this post so I do apologise.

So…what other planners am I using apart from the wonderful Leuchtturm?

You are about to find out:)

First of all I have my ever loving and trusting Ochre Malden. I have this set up for my everyday stuff. I write my shopping lists in here, daily errands, calls and emails. I also have all my contacts here and my weekly and monthly calendar for appointments and such.

I take this one out with me every single day and couldn’t be without her:)

I then have a Paperchase A5 coiled diary. This is for all my household stuff such as finances and cleaning schedules. I also record my 366 penny challenge in here too. There are not many pics due to the personal info in this but I have a couple:)

My next planner is my Ban.Do large. This is my Food diary and weight/Measurement tracker which I keep at home. I use this to write out my weekly menu’s:)

And finally we have my large Kikki-K Ocean planner. This is my Slimming world binder. It has my progress record, food diaries old and new, recipes, and SW books in it. I take this to each group with me. I will also be writing down things I notice such as food triggers etc.

So there we go, you have now seen my entire 2016 collection.

So far two weeks into the year I am finding this really is working for me. I was worried that having so many would cause me to get a bit fed up for forget but instead updating them is easy and I don’t have issues forgetting anything. It is so helpful knowing where to go straight away for whatever I want too 🙂
