Small Business Spotlight: FabPlannerPrint

Today I have the lovely Toni from FabPlannerPrint.
1) Tell us a little about you, who is the person behind the shop?

Hi, I’m Toni, I’m a mummy to one very active and cheeky 21 month old. I’m from Mid Wales, and absolutely love the area. I’m getting married this year to my amazing partner (he can tell the difference between a Filofax and a Kikki K, and a TN a keeper for sure) so exciting, my family knows me well as they bought me a purple A5 Malden as an engagement present to plan the wedding.  I’ve always loved planners I think my first was a filofax at the age of 13, I used to doodle all over it but it was primarily to record my nail polish collection. I’d have lots of little swatches and the names and carry it around so I didn’t buy the same polish twice.

I’ve always been creative, art and craft. I studied art throughout school and went to college and completed a fashion and clothing construction course so fabric holds a special place in my heart. Maybe I’ll do something with fabric in the shop at some point.

I started the shop to have something for me, going from working full-time to being a stay at home Mum was a shock to the system, I’m also quite shy meeting people so an online shop is perfect for me.  I never thought I’d actually sell anything and now I still can’t believe I am. I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve had in the last 8 months. I’ve made some fab friends and met so many lovely people along the way. My design team has been amazingly supportive.  I’ve been overwhelmed by how lovely the planner community is.
2) What does your store sell?

Stickers, lots of stickers. You can never have enough, right? My focus is on kits, weekly and monthly for a whole range of planners. I also do custom orders for inserts and dividers but I’m hoping to get my dividers and page markers in the shop soon.

3) Is there an item which you have made that you have loved above all others?

It’s got to be my original boho themed kits. It’s the kit in the shop that is the most ‘me’. I originally made it in the personal and happy planner size but have added to the collection now as it’s been so popular. It was the first kit I made and I love it. I’ve used it so many times in my own planners, I don’t think I’ll ever get board of it.

4) What is your most popular seller?
Ohhh there are a couple that are neck and neck, the boho mentioned above and the night sky kits are old favourites. The newer Vintage Tea party kit has been a hit.

5) What inspired your shop name?

I’m so awful at picking names, I called on my Mum to help and she came up with FabPlannerPrint. If you knew me you’d be able to tell why in a few minutes. Everything is fab! I say it all the time. The plan originally was to offer printable items hence the print part. I’ve moved to printed stickers but still love the name.

6) What planner do you use?

Ok, you can’t have too many planners can you?
A personal planner (I change the planner quite a lot) I use this as my handbag (really a changing bag, I can’t wait to have a handbag again) planner.
A classic Happy Planner as my home planner.
A5 purple Malden is my wedding planner.
A Websters TN rose Gold as my business planner.
A mini Happy Planner is for my other business
I also have a ECLP, an A5, and am on the hunt for a large Happy Planner as I use them for the shop to do layouts and kit tests. I may also sneak some personal planning bits in them as well, can’t let those stickers go to waste.

7) What is your planning style?

It changes constantly, there has been so many life changes over the last couple of years that it needs to be updated all the time. That’s part of the fun for me as well. I always have some decoration but I love functional box stickers, washi strips any thing that will help me pack as much info  on the page as I can.

8) What are your social media channels?

My shop Facebook group, lots of exclusive offers here as well as ooops sale packs and where you can get your hands on a loyalty card.

@FabPlannerPrint

9) What is your planner ‘unicorn’

I have my unicorn! My partner picked me a personal Aqua Malden  a few years ago and it remains my favourite. I just love everything about it.

Custom Planner Paperclips

2017 is going to be the year that I really put huge focus on my blog and my new business.

Any planner addict knows that planner accessories are usually a must have.

I approached Kayleigh Hopkins from Cherryblossom in the Market Sqaure and asked if she could make me a couple of custom paperclips with my blog name.

Kayleigh of course made some amazing clips and not only did she send these are a RAK Xmas pressie but she sent more than the 2 I’d originally asked for in both the colours I loved.

I absolutely love these paperclips. I can see them appearing in one of the book boxes at some point.

I highly recommend Kayleigh for any paperclips, custom or otherwise. I have so many from her now.

UglyBugDoes October Box

*Disclaimer – I received this box free of charge for being a member of Ugly Bug Does Design Team. This does not influence my opinion in anyway and all my comments are my own*

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”… That’s what I am singing with this amazing box.

This is such a bittersweet post as it is my last month as part of the design team as Michelle has decided to try a different way to manage and promote the boxes.

This is by far my favourite of all the boxes I have been lucky enough to receive.

So without further ado this is what was included;

* Sticker Kit themed for winter.

* Snowman sticky notes

*Snowflake metal paperclip

* Blue fine point nib pen

* Winter themed charm

The snowflake clip was my favourite item, unfortunately it has gone walk about and Michelle is kind enough to send me another YAY!

If you are interested in purchasing a Subscription box or one of the new Uglydori’s then please see the link Here.

The New Rapesco 6 Hole Punch! Review

*Disclaimer :I received this item free of charge in exchange for an honest and unbiased review*

I already owned the previous style Rapesco punch in black. I loved it, yes it was a faff about to do A5 but once you mastered it then it was easy as pie.

However when I heard about the new ones in various colours and with a punch guide I got a bit excited. Rapesco contacted me after I tweeted about them and asked if I’d like to try one as they were not available to purchase yet.

I’m not daft and said yes, of course! So along arrived the pretty pink punch.

The punch actually came with a hole punch instruction and paper size guide which was great.

In order to do A5 you still need to flip the page the same way you did with the previous style punch except it is much easier with the pull out size guide.

The holes were spot on for my a5 planner. I managed to punch 10 sheets no problem of the paper I had which is more than I could with my last.

All in all this hole punch is definitely a step up from the previous model. There still isn’t any more information on when they will be released or for how much but you can find there range here.

Below are a couple more images of the new punch.

If I hadn’t got one I would definitely buy one!

My College Planner and Set-Up

As some of you may remember I posted about a month ago about how I was due to start college again in September and as struggling with what options were available.

Well now I have gone back and I have sorted my planner situation out.

Let’s have a look at what I opted for…

The Planner: Pause Large by Kikki-K

I received this planner in a swap and initially  had no idea what I was going to do with it. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it as my experience with Kikki-K planners has been a little hit and miss. My favourite is a Kikki-K but I have found most of there others planners are quite bulky without even adding the inserts.
However once I added all my bits and pieces to it, it turned out to be pretty perfect. It won’t fit much in there in the way of actual lesson work but I don’t intend on adding anythign like that other than Key Notes sheets. This is primarily as a diary and schedule keeper.

To compliment this I purchased a ARC disbound A5 notebook. This is perfect as they have both have the same colour scheme and I can add the A5 sheet into my planner if it is something that is important.

I really like this set up, it’s pretty, simple and effective.
Do you study? If so what are you using? I’d love to hear from you 🙂

Latest Stationery Haul

It has been a while since I have had a good old latest purchases post. I don’t buy stuff often anymore as I pretty much have all that I need however, at this time of the year I always get that urge to change it up a bit.

First off we have the amazing Goonies sticker kit from All Things Paper. I was so eager to use this kit that I don’t have a picture of all the stickers so I have taken a pic of them in use aswell as ones I’ve saved.

1473748257392.jpg1473748606282.jpg

Next there are these beautiful foiled stickers from FiloFabulouss. Again I was impatient and ended up using a couple before I took pictures 🙂 The small weekend stickers were a freebie in my order.

1473748441506.jpg

Now let’s talk washi’s. I bought these gorgeous foiled washi from Jadiescrafts. They are brilliant quality too, perfect stickines and don’t leave any residue.

1473748475460.jpg

There is also this perfectly autumnal washi from A Beautiful Plan. Kelly sold out of this pretty quickly last time but has since restocked. It looks so pretty used. You can see how it looks in my previous post Confessions Of…Autumn Bucket List.

1473748512070.jpg

Next we have a little collection of items from Three Little Buhos. I ordered a Pen and some washi’s. I was also sent another washi and some Wizard of Oz stickers as freebies too.

1473748710876.jpg1473748665727.jpg1473748635916.jpg

Finally we have an autumnal ephemera kit that I ordered from the The Idea Owl sale. Donna over at The Idea Owl is actually closing her store to focus on selling subscription boxes primarily for penpals and TN enthusiasts.

1473748339646.jpg1473748378380.jpg

So there you have it. There will be a few more of these posts in the comig weeks as I have stuff that is due to arrive any day now.

G.T.D for Studying Including Free Planner Checklist

Hey!
Everyone who has read my blog knows I am a huge fan of David Allen’s Getting Things Done. I have previously discussed this topic many times before.

However now I am due to start studying again I thought it would be a great opportunity to see how GTD will work with my studies to maximise efficiency and productivity.

There are many aspects that are completely irrelevant from the original GTD premise however there are still many helpful tips that can be taken on your educational journey.

I have included a checklist that can be printed. It is available in A4 and A5. It is the first time I have ever attempted to attach a file so if there are any errors please let me know and I will attempt to fix them:)

So before I link the checklists I will explain the way I will be implementing and adapting the techniques I have learnt.

These are the Categories: Inboxes, Calendar, Reviewing, Projects, File, Next Actions, Vision board/Future Log. I will also breakdown the assignment projects method to.

Inboxes. By this I don’t just mean your email inbox, what this refers to is anywhere you have incoming information. This could be your email or during a lesson from a teacher. You will find that these are the places that items will get stored until properly processed. When you are processing your inbox make sure you first of all ascertain whether the item requires any action, if so what? Note down at least the first 3 actions required and add them to your calendar. If not, discard or file the information.

Calendar. This is where you will note any time sensitive assignments, essays, exams, events etc.

Reviewing. This should be done on a daily, weekly and term basis.

Daily reviewing should be a time to review items in the inboxes, review date sensitive tasks and run through and edit next actions.

Weekly reviewing should be when you process all outstanding items, review and edit the week ahead next actions, review project lists, add any new weekly tasks from your project list and file items no longer required.

Term Reviewing should be where you reflect, upon the previous term and the upcoming term. Assess what is needed for the immediate future and plan ahead for the next term. It should also be a time to assess educational goals and file away previous modules work.

Projects. This covers Assignments, Research and Exam prep.

File. This is the place for key notes, module information, support material and research and old assignments

Next Actions. This is where you write down a list of all the tasks which need to be completed as a priority. Usually start with the one which requires the most urgent response. It is best daily to remove the completed ones and add new ones.

Vision Board/Future Log. This is where your ultimate goal is. What do you want to achieve, how do you get to where you want to be, what steps are needed to be taken. It is helpful to have this to look back to so you don’t lose you way or get overwhelmed. This helps to maintain focus and motivation. It also serves as a reminder of how far you have already come.

Assignment project list breakdown. I find it best to breakdown my assignments into steps. I think this helps motivate and prevent overwhelm. It allows you to easily check progress and have a solid plan which means less procrastination later. First I brainstorm ideas surrounding the assignment, then I look at what keywords I need to focus on and what my research aims are, for this I usually break down the question into smaller parts. I then organise what I have and assign deadlines to each part so I know what to move onto when. I then gather all the information I need and start my first draft. Once I have finished this step I go through my work and edit for a final draft.

So there we have it. I really hope that this works, the true test will be once I actually start but if i find anything else that does or does not work I will edit the post accordingly.

Confessions Of A Plannerholic: Disappointing Purchases

Hey Everyone!

So as you may have noticed there was not a Confessions Of A Plannerholic post last week. Us ladies have decided that we will switch to fortnightly posts from now on.

Today’s post is to discuss disappointing purchases we have made in our planner journey.

Surprisingly this was something that I struggled with a bit as I can’t say I’ve been overly disappointed with anything I have tried. I have however found myself less keen on things that I thought I would.

First off would be the Purple Malden. This was my unicorn and I finally bought it, I used it for a few months however as it turned out I preferred the Ochre. The purple is amazing quality don’t get me wrong but it didn’t feel as nice in my hands and the colour was slightly different to what I’d seen. This is apparently quite common with the purple style.

My 2nd would be the happy planner. I loved the inside but it felt to flimsy in my hands, I wouldn’t have dared actually take it out of the house. The plastic covers while pretty did not feel functional at all.

The 3rd is the Lamy Fountain Pen. Now to be fair I did win this and was really excited by it but I just didn’t like writing with it. I don’t know if it was because of the medium nib or what but it just didn’t wow me at all.

I think that’s it really, I am lucky compared to some who have had very unfortunate situations happen.

Monthly Planner Kits by UglyBugDoes

Now I’m not sure about you but I love a good monthly kit. However usually I find I don’t use the majority of the stickers because they usually don’t fit into my style of planning.

However as being part of the UglyBugDoes design team I am lucky enough to try Michelle’s kits.

However this time I got a full kit rather than one designed specifically for my a5 (usually missing boxes). This particular kit was grease inspired, and without giving away too much about how I’ve used it (you’ll have to wait until Sunday’s “My Week” for that) they are great.

Vibrant colours and I can guarantee I will without a doubt use all of these stickers.

The monthly kits are a new feature in the store and while there are only a few sets currently I know Michelle has more up her sleeve.

Each full kit costs between £8-10 and individual sheets are available for purchase too.

These are the kits currently in store.

Ghost (also available in personal size.

Superhero

Rockabilly

1950’s Grease inspired

I currently have all the kits except Ghost but that is definitely next on my list to try, especially with Halloween not that far into the future. These are also great for noting when you’re watching something spooky.

All sets are purchasable from UglyBugDoes Etsy
