Hobbycraft Geometric Planner Review

Hey Everyone.

Everyone went a bit barmy earlier this year when Hobbycraft released a range of Planners.

For Ā£12 I thought it was definitely worth a look so after much deliberation I ordered the Geometric planner.

I was actually really surprised and happy when it came. It’s very pretty but the best thing is the quality of it. The paper is beautiful and thick.

I am using this as a blog planner. As the pages are already decorated it means it serves an entirely functional purpose as I don’t feel the need to decorate it.

The layout is not like anything I’ve seen before in a planner which makes it really unique. There is room for ideas, notes, to do lists, goals, a monthly overview and a week on 2 pages.

It also has an internal pocket on the inside cover and comes with 3 sheets of coordinating stickers.

Overall I’m really impressed with it. I have started using it as I plan my blog posts in advance.

I am determined to stick with it for the entire year this time.

Thanks for reading.

Planner Girls Collective: My 2017 Planner Set-Up

Hey Everyone,
Happy New Year and Welcome to a fresh series of Planner Girls Collective (formally Confessions Of A Plannerholic) posts.

A new year signifies for me a new planner set-up.

Over the last 12 months I’ve finally realised what works for me and what doesn’t.

No matter how much I want many pretty and colourful spreads, I am more of a functional planner. I have managed to find a nice compromise that suits my needs for pretty decor vs function.

My Handbag planner will be my Pursedori. I used this for the last 3 months of 2016 and found it to suit my needs perfectly.

In this I have a blank page notebook, cardboard folder and a week on one page diary.

It’s the perfect size for popping in my bag and the popper front means it’s easy to use.

My Blog planner is the Hobbycraft Geometric planner. This has a totally different layout to any other planner I’ve used but I’m really liking the style. As the pages are decorated I can just get on with planning. My blog is probably what takes up the majority of my time even compared to my business. It also requires the most planning.

My business planner is the Heidi Swapp planner. I don’t use this often given that the majority of my time is spent waiting for goods to arrive. But it is still a necessity to plan everything I need, invoices, bills etc.
The size of this is perfect. I was going to use another planner to start with but this has nice big pockets and because I don’t need to utilise it as much as my other two planners I can decorate this much more.

My Book Journal, last year I was using the Nordic Nights ringbound from Paperchase but this year I am using a beautiful Harry Potter Hardback notebook I had received for Christmas.

My Creative Journal is still my mint Webster’s Pages Traveler’s Notebook. Nothing has changed with this one.

I am also going to use the WHSmith Rose Gold Moderna planner for household things such as storing important letters, bills, information etc.

My Go-To Everyday planner is my brand new and adored Mini Happy Planner with it’s gold cover.

Thanks for reading and please feel free to drop me a comment or link to a post showing your 2017 set up.

GTD Trigger List For My Blog Planner

image

The GTD incompletion trigger list is an absolute godsend for me as I frequently forget things when I have a toddler running amok however as I mentioned in my previous post GTD Trigger List For My A5 Planner the one in David Allen’s book doesn’t fit my life situation so I have adapted it into two seperate parts. One for my daily life and one for my blogging.

I have already shared the list for my daily planner so now I am sharing the list for my blog planner.

I haven’t typed this one up as of yet as I am waiting to see if I need to add or tweak it first as this is a relatively new list.

As you can see the list is somewhat different and more blog orientated.
I am trying to improve my blog as I progress as it’s something that I love doing. I don’t currently blog for money but more freedom. Blogging is one of the few things I have in my life that’s done for me (and my audience) rather than for my partner,  children or family.

When I first started it was just somewhere for me to write and I didn’t have a clue about domains, SEO, statistics etc however now I find myself wanting to learn more, wanting to reach more people. To share any knowledge I may have or experiences I have.

The trigger list helps my personal development with my blog so much, as it forces me to focus.

If you have any tips or triggers you feel I’ve missed or advice I always greateful.

Thank you for reading.

My Blog Planner

I decided that I was going to focus and improve my blog more in 2016. To do this I knew I would need to implement a routine and for that I would need a planner. Originally I was using the large Ocean Kikki.K, however my wonderful partner bought me the beautiful Wellness planner for my birthday this month.

When the planner arrived I took out the inserts and put them into the Ocean planner and set about making my new one perfect. I really wanted something that was cute and pretty as well as functional. I love the Grey of the Wellness planner, I feel this looks more professional and contrasts the fun mint green on the inside. I don’t usually bother much with internal pocket prettiness, mainly because my Malden is hard to cater for with them been vertically challenged.

However the Wellness planner pockets are a great size and location for me to do things with. In the top pocket I have a mini notebook for any notes I need to quickly jot down. This was from Wilkos and has a cute heart design. I also have my name paper-clip just behind so it pops up above the notebook, I love the colour of the clip and it fits perfectly with the colour scheme. It was made for me by Michelle at Uglybugplans. Just below the notebook I have a Planner Nerd paper-clip which was made by Cherryblossomsinthemarketsquare and then in the bottom I just have a little butterfly from the Kikki.K dashboard set. My first page is a drawing done for me from one of the ladies in UKPA and a journalling card from the Kikki.K dashboard set.

My first section is my calender. This is where I plot out my blog posts for the weeks ahead and make any notes of posts I may like to squeeze in.

I also have my Kikki.K stickers and a little wallet in this section where I keep washi sample sheets and other little bits.

After this I have my Ideas section. This for all my blog post ideas, things I want to look into to, research, brainstorms etc.

My next section is for Planning. This is where I draft all my posts and write down what I want my post to look like, and sound like.

Next is my stats section. This is where I list my monthly statistics so I can track how things improve or decline, what maybe popular and what isn’t.

My next section is to record all books I read that I may want to review. I use the Book inserts from the Kikki.K for this.

Next is my To-Do section. This is pretty self explanatory. I keep all the things I would like to get done with my blog and tasks for blog posts.

Finally, to set it all off I have this gorgeous little charm from UglyBugPlans šŸ™‚

So there it it. I have ordered some weekly inserts from Just So Stationery which I plan to use in my Calender section too.

Thanks for reading:)
