Book Tour: Violet Souls by Abbey MacMunn {Review}

Happy Publication Day to Abbey with her new novel Violet Souls.

Thank you to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources and to Abbey for inviting me on this blitz.

While searching for clues to her past, single mother Bree Mills discovers a subculture of aliens with supernatural abilities living on Earth. And she’s one of them. Finding herself hurled into a world of possibilities, it’s made more alluring by Quinn Taylor, the 324-year-old, violet-eyed Evoxian from her childhood dreams.

Quinn knows his destiny is entwined with Bree’s. He’s fraught with frustration and desire, but before he can confess his love, he must wait for her to sense the Akui, a mysterious force tied with ancient Evoxian law.

At a Cotswolds country manor, passions awaken and ignite a love more magical than the once-Utopian planet, Evox. Then Fate delivers a cruel and heart-breaking blow when Bree is kidnapped by a malicious alien who wants her and her power. Will Quinn still love Bree when she’s faced with protecting her half-human daughter… whatever the cost?

Review

If you are looking for something which is heavy of romance and action then you need not look any further.

Violet Souls is an interesting premise which is different to any other Fantasy style books I have read. It has a nice flow between the fantasy and romance elements and has the potential to be a fantastic sci-fi novel too.

Brew, or Brianna as she is know to the Evoxians is a likeable enough character. She is gutsy, stubborn, protective and seems to take things in her stride. Her love for her daughter tops everything and protecting her is paramount.

Quinn is your typical nice guy, always doing what he feels is best for Bree in order to keep her safe. However, there is another naughty side to him which makes him much more relatable and a bit cheeky.

Each character in the book including Drew, Adam and Lexie are all unique with their own quirks.

There were a few little things I found to be a bit annoying such as the phrase “You bet ya” which to be didn’t flow properly coming out from the character it did and the constant talk to a cuppa tea felt overused. However, this didn’t distract from an enjoyable story.

I felt that the pace could be been a little slower in some parts, this isn’t a big read book and I felt it could was been as the storyline was really good and probably could have had more time to develop.

That been said though I will still be eager to get myself book 2. Non of the little criticisms warrant me not continuing as the overall enjoyability of the book, the fantastic characters and the need for me to know how this plays out overrides anything else.

I would highly recommend this, especially to those who love anything romance, fantasy or sci-fi.
