It’s A Family Thing: Jay-Jay And The Carnival by Sue Wickstead

Hey Everyone. Today Alexis and I have a review of another one of Sue Wickstead children’s books. This on is called Jay-Jay And The Carnival.

Alexis and I have been lucky enough to receive all the Jay-Jay books from Sue. Alexis really enjoys reading them and seeing the adventures that Jay-Jay goes on.

Jay-Jay and the Carnival was not any different, she really enjoyed it, particularly commenting on the fact that Jay-Jay had undergone a make over and was ‘bright orange’.

The story as always was entertaining and didn’t drag which held Alexis’s attention, something extremely difficult for any 3 year old to do.

We would highly recommend the Jay-Jay books for children. They are bright, colourful and fun. Great enjoyment. You can purchase a copy here on Amazon UK.

Thanks for reading.

My Everyday Planner {Set-up and Overview}

Hey everyone, today I’m sharing with you the set-up for my everyday carry planner and what I use it for.

I’ve been in this beautiful Cinnamon Stick B6 Nayadori from Nayapaperie since it arrived in October. I love it just as much now as I did when it arrived and what’s even better is that it is working perfectly for me.

I have however, changed my main planning insert. I was previously using the bullet journal style inserts from The Punk Planner I had used them for months but found that I wasn’t utilising the tracker part of the insert. I then received an insert as part of my PR package from Queen Mabel and Doris which is working really well. I’m able to dress it up or down as I wish and it has a lot of space.

I’m not a huge decorator but I do like to add bits for colour and function. I do like little headers to split up sections I need.

I always have one my page a weekly to-do sections, notes, next week and blog schedule. Some weeks I may add a meal plan some I won’t.

The next insert I have is a standard month-on-two-page insert from The Punk Planner. This allows me to do any future planning, jot down reviews due, essays, studies, appointments. Pretty much anything. As I only prepare a week or two in advance in my weekly I use this to future plan everything else, along with sticky notes.

After this I have what is called my collections insert. This is a simple lined and decorated printable insert from Annie Plans Printables. I use this to track my weight loss, write my book TBR, favourite quotes and anything else that I want to keep track of that doesn’t require a a weekly tracker. I also have all my up-to-date medical info here for emergencies.

After this I have three more inserts. I have a To-Do list insert and Book Review insert both from The Punk Planner and another one of the Annie Plans decorated inserts for any notes and scribbles.

I also still have the Harry Potter cardwallet to store random letters and stickers I need to keep with me.

Throughout the planner I have changed my overall decor from the autumn/winter theme to a beautiful vintage celestial theme.

I use my planner for everything and it has to be practical more than pretty but I’m really happy with the balance I have found between the two.

I have recently set up one of my old ring planners purely for medical info as I’m less precious about it being in the hands of medical staff when I get taken to A&E which happens more regularly than I’d like.

Thanks for reading and I’d love to know what you use your planner for so feel free to drop me a comment below.

Blog Tour: The Cocktail Bar by Isabella May

Hey Everyone.

Today I have a review for you, The Cocktail Bar by Isabella May.

Blurb…

Rock star, River Jackson, is back in his hometown of Glastonbury to open a cocktail bar… and the locals aren’t impressed.
Seductive Georgina is proving too hot to handle; band mate, Angelic Alice, is messing with his heart and his head; his mum is a hippie-dippy liability; his school friends have resorted to violence – oh, and his band manager, Lennie, AND the media are on his trail.
But River is armed with a magical Mexican elixir which will change the lives of the Three Chosen Ones. Once the Mexican wave of joy takes a hold of the town, he’s glad he didn’t lose his proverbial bottle.
Pity he hasn’t taken better care of the real one…

Review…

Love, love, love this book. I read through it in 2 days and devoured the pages.

Isabella has such a gorgeous writing style, the flow from page to page makes reading such a pure pleasure. When I wasn’t reading The Cocktail Bar I was thinking about it.

The story itself is fantastic, such a great magical twist on story that would be entertaining in it’s own right.

All of Isabella’s characters, from the nice to the naughty are incredibly well written. Even some of the background characters will become your favourite ones, like Hayley.

I really did enjoy this book. I think people of any preferred genre would also love this book.

I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. In fact get me a Frisky Bison cause I may have to sit down and read it again.

Thanks for reading.

Blog Tour: Spring at Lavender Bay by Sarah Bennett

Spring At Lavender Bay by Sarah Bennett

Hey Everyone. Today I have a review for you for Spring at Lavender Bay by Sarah Bennett. I must apologise as this was due to go out at the weekend but I was unwell in hospital but as they say…better late than never.

Blurb…

A season for change…?

Beth Reynolds loved growing up close to Eleanor’s Emporium – a bric-a-brac shop full of wonders on Lavender Bay. Devastated to learn that Eleanor has died, she returns home from London immediately and is shocked to discover that the elderly lady has left the shop to her!Vowing to restore it to its former glory, she only intends to stay until the end of the season. Although the longer she spends in the colourful seaside town, the more she falls back in love with everything she left behind…and quite possibly, with her best friend Eliza’s older brother, local chef Sam Barnes! Why didn’t she notice he was quite this gorgeous before? And will their spring fling be enough to convince her to stay?

Don’t miss Spring at Lavender Bay, the first book in the enchanting Lavender Bay trilogy! Perfect for fans of Trisha Ashley, Rachael Lucas and Hilary Boyd.

Book 1: Spring at Lavender Bay
Book 2: Summer at Lavender Bay
Book 3: Snowflakes at Lavender Bay

Review…

Ahhh I admit I totally loved this book. I read it really quickly because I enjoyed everything about it.

Both Beth and Sam were relatable and I felt like I really wanted the best for them.

The story wasn’t straight up soft and fluffy and it did touch on some sensitive subjects but it never took it to a dark place.

I will be reading the rest of the books in the series. Sarah has such a lovely writing style that her words flow so naturally on a page.

I would rate this 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who wants something that is easy to follow, a bit of fun and a sprinkle of romance.

Thanks for reading.

Blog Tour: A Dangerous Game by Madeline Dyer {Review}

Dangerous Game Banner

Today is my stop on the A Dangerous Game by Madeline Dyer blog tour.

Blurb…

LOVE WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE EASY.

All her life, Keelie Lin-Sykes has known what she wants: to protect her brother and sisters by killing as many of the soulless Enhanced Ones as she can. Oh, and to have fun while she’s doing it. After all, hiding in a secret Untamed community, while the group’s Seer warns them of danger, shouldn’t mean that life can only be serious, right?

But, when a face from her past suddenly—and secretly—shows up, Keelie’s catapulted back into the very world she’s been trying to escape from for the last ten years: a world full of guilt, lies, and…love. And the deeper Keelie gets into this world, the bigger the risks become.

Now, Keelie must deceive those she values most in order to protect them, even though her actions will destroy everything she knows and haunt her family forever. But she can’t ignore her feelings–not again. And Keelie will do anything to be with the man she loves.

Review…

Admittedly I have not read any of Madeline’s Untamed series books. I was a bit worried I would have had to have read them to fully understand the world that A Dangerous Game was set it. A Dangerous Game is a standalone and you don’t need to have read the other books. However, while the story is perfectly readable as a standalone, I did get the feeling that there was more to it which may be remedied by reading the other books.

Either way I will be more than happy to pick up the Untamed series as I really enjoyed A Dangerous Game. I enjoyed the characters but mostly I loved the world in which is was set. I really liked how things came together not just with the Enchanted and Untamed but with the element of the Spirits as well and Seers. The world has a lot of depth and I am really looking forward to exploring this in more detail.

I really like Madelines writing style it all flows very naturally and she has the ability to make you want to keep turning the pages. The ending surprised me quite a lot and I really liked that. I love it when a book isn’t predictable and the end comes as a surprise.

All in all I would give A Dangerous Game a very well deserved 4.5 stars (my first ever half star!).

Thanks for reading. To find out more about Madeline and her books you can do so on my previous post <here>

Lucy Hall’s Social Media Planner Review

Today I wanted to review a product that has saved me worrying about my marketing plan. As an author it is important to use social media and your blog the most effective way. I have never had the time to think about how to set up a marketing plan and when I came across Lucy Hall’s Social Media Planner.

IMG_8313

As you can see from the photo’s it has these beautiful pink flamingo’s as the cover and Lucy uses this throughout her media which helps for her brand recognition. The Planner is a 2018 Social Media Content Planning Diary and I have used it for January and already receiving results.

One of my favourite aspects is how the planner give’s you noteable days, tips for each month, challenges you to give your own objectives and your own important message for each month. Noteable days include days like; National Popcorn Day, Clean Off Your Desk Day, Compliment Day and so on.

At the end of each month you have the chance to recognise your achievements and I believe it is important to celebrate success even if it is the small steps to the big goals.

IMG_1389

The layout of the planner is simple but yet effective, it has a classy feel to it. The colours are simple and the flamingo appears on some pages as a background throughout.

As well as the planner Lucy has a Facebook group for those who purchase the planner and it gives you a chance to ask questions, see updates from other members, network, receive training and theres competitions and giveaways which is always a winner for me.

I would highly recommend the planner to anyone who is looking to get organised with their social media, whether they are a blogger, have a business, are an author or are helping clients with marketing. At a price of £17 you have nothing to loose. I am looking forward to my marketing achievements this year.

Blog Tour: A Dangerous Game by Madeline Dyer

Dangerous Game Banner

Hey Everyone. Today is quite an exciting day for me. I am hosting my first book blog tour. I do not plan to make this a regular occurance but I wanted to help out someone from one of my writing and book groups.

I will be bringing my review of the book later in the week and on Sunday I will be linking all the reviews of the lovely book bloggers which have taken part.

Madeline is the author of the highly rated Untamed series. The first book in the series is Untamed and there are 3 books so far with a 4th due to be released at a later date.

Blurb..

As one of the last Untamed humans left in the world, Seven’s life has always been controlled by tight rules. Stay away from the Enhanced. Don’t question your leader. And, most importantly, never switch sides–because once you’re Enhanced there’s no going back. Even if you have become the perfect human being.

But after a disastrous raid on an Enhanced city, Seven soon finds herself in her enemy’s power. Realizing it’s only a matter of time before she too develops a taste for the chemical augmenters responsible for the erosion of humanity, Seven knows she must act quickly if she’s to escape and save her family from the same fate.

Yet, as one of the most powerful Seers that the Untamed and Enhanced have ever known, Seven quickly discovers that she alone holds the key to the survival of only one race. But things aren’t clear-cut anymore, and with Seven now questioning the very beliefs she was raised on, she knows she has an important choice to make. One that has two very different outcomes.

Seven must choose wisely whose side she joins, for the War of Humanity is underway, and Death never takes kindly to traitors. (less)
