Planner Girls Collective: Meal Planning

It’s been a little while since I have taken part in the Planner Girls Collective post, purely due to illness mostly.

This week we are looking at meal planning. Since I am back at Slimming World, meal prep is massively Important for me to due.

I get paid on Tuesday’s so for me meal planning is always something I do every Monday. First of all I go through my recipe books and websites looking for meals that I quite fancy. Lately I’m trying to add one new dish a week to my range to stop myself getting bored.

I think write down the ingredients I need. I plan for every day up to the following Tuesday. I then go through lunch ideas and do the same, adding a few things for my OH and children that are bits I can’t eat.

Please excuse my writing lol.

I then go through all the snacks I want in. I write each evening meal in my and have a list of everything in my edc travelers notebook.

Do you meal pls? If so how do you do It?

Please don’t forget to pop along to all the other girls taking part.

Geeky Girl Tag

Geeky Girl Tag.png

Hey everyone. I was tagged by the lovely Debbie over at My Chaotically Eclectic Life to do the Geeky Girl Tag. Now aside from my openly geeky attitude towards many things books and stationery I also have many other hidden geeky loves.

Let’s Get Started!

1. What is your must-have tech gadget?

My phone is my must-have tech gadget. I have a Samsung s8 Edge and I do everything on it. I write, blog, read, converse and just generally live!

2. Which house do you belong to in Hogwarts?

Ravenclaw! Was there ever any doubt I would belong to the best house there is? You can see more on my sorting, patronus and American house in a previous post I did here.

3. Who is your favorite Doctor?

Ok…now this is a major geeky let down I know but I actually really do not like Doctor Whos so don’t watch it. I was fored to watch it by my kids a few times when Tennant was the Doctor which I didn’t mind I suppose.

4. If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be?

Just 1? Can’t I have a dinner party with many of them? I guess my ulltimate fictional character would have to be Snape, he is probably the most complex character I’ve come across in a book. FAiling that, maybe Rhysand but that wouldn’t be for dinner hehe.

5. What is your gaming system of choice?

PC every single time. We have a PS4 but I cannot use duel wiggly sticks. I’m a retro gamer. Things like EQ2, Sim City, Minecraft..pc only.

6. If you had a super power, what would it be?

Invisability, then I could sneak around without anyone knowing, take a book and be undisturbed.

7. What is your favorite fantasy world?

This is a tough one because I equally love both Hogwarts and Narnia…Hogwarts in Narnia would be amazing.

8. If you could be any fictional race, what would you be?

Fae, most certainly a fae

9. Star Trek or Star Wars?

Neither? Though I enjoyed the Trek films, cannot stand Wars…

10. List your top 5 geektastic movies or TV Series.

The 100

Comic Book Films in general, I like both DC and Marvel

Harry Potter

11. List your top 5 favourite video games.

Silent Hill

Everquest 2

The Sims 3

Tomb Raider

Thanks for reading and I tag everyone!

Book Tour: Holding Myself by Victoria J Brown

Book Review(9)

Today I have a book tour for you with a review for the book Holding Myself by Victoria J Brown.

Kat has a busy life. She runs her own beauty salon and has an alcoholic father to worry about. To make matters worse she has just discovered she is pregnant.

Kat and Max have only been together for six months and she has a turbulent relationship with his mother and his ex-girlfriend who refuses to go away.

As the pressure builds Kat finds herself wondering what path to take.

Is having a baby the right thing to do?

Can you she keep her head above water while her life spirals out of control?

Kat has some big decisions to make and whatever happens her life is going to change forever…

I found this book refreshingly good. Kat was a character I felt protective of and reading about how she felt about her relationship and the baby felt realistic. The book while touching on sensitive subjects such as pregnancy, abortion, death, miscarriage and physical/mental abuse managed to stay quite light and not too heavy.

I felt like I went on the journey along with Kat and experienced things as she did. I was really pleased how things turned out in the end.

I would rate this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars and recommed to anyone who wants a slightly untradtional love story.

Author Bio

Victoria J.Brown has always had a passion for writing. When asked at the age of 9 years old, what she wanted to be when she grew up, her reply ‘an author’ was met with a disheartened response, ‘that jobs like that, don’t happen to people like us!’

Luckily, Victoria didn’t listen to this advice and never gave up on her passion.  She continued to write while perusing a career in Marketing after gaining a BA (Hons) in Business and Marketing.

In 2006 her eldest daughter was born and then two years later her 2nd daughter came along. Victoria realised in the midst of the mummy madness, that she’d let her writing dwindle and that nappy-changing, sleepless nights and not being able to go to the toilet in peace could not stop her fulfilling her writing dreams. So when her girls were 3 years old and 18 months old, she decided that sleep was over-rated and enrolled at Teesside University. A year later she proudly left with a MA in Creative Writing, some wonderful friendships and a passion for therapeutic writing. While studying for her MA she was also delighted to win a short-story competition judged by Adele Parks, to which she received publication and mentoring from Adele.

After her MA, Victoria concentrated on writing women’s fiction. She loves writing stories that women can relate to. The Chaos Series grew from her own experience of pregnancy, motherhood and life.

Victoria is also passionate about mental health and likes to write of such issues in her stories. Her dedication to mental health and living life to the full has led her down a spiritual path. Through her learning of spirituality she qualified as a Law of Attraction and NLP Practitioner, which she integrates into her writing. Her inspirational blog includes an A-Z motivational journey with weekly therapeutic creative writing exercises. She has developed this further and will soon launch her inspirational shop. The shop has been created to pass on positivity and love to others … you never know when someone may need to see those messages.

Being accepted by Bombshell Books is a dream come true for Victoria, she hopes that her mantra for giving love always and never giving up will inspire others to follow their dreams and passion.

If you’re interested in finding out more about Victoria, her inspirational blog and shop you can visit, plus you can follow her on:

Weekend Book Blitz: Marry Me at Willoughby Close by Kate Hewitt

Book Review(8).png

Welcome to Willoughby Close… a charming cluster of cozy cottages, each with a story to tell and a happy ending to deliver…

Alice James has been a drifter her whole life, working her way through several foster homes before ending up in Wychwood-on-Lea, feeling anchorless and invisible. When a chance encounter leads to Alice accepting a position as a caretaker and companion to Lady Stokeley, she starts to feel as if she might finally be able to put down some roots and live the way other people do.

Then, Lady Stokeley’s nephew, city banker Henry Trent, storms into Willoughby Manor, seeming to find fault with everything, including Alice. As the next in line to the manor and title, he threatens to upturn everything she’s started to build. But Henry is hiding his own secret fears and weaknesses, as well as a long-running feud with his aunt. A surprising and inconvenient attraction that simmers between them leaves Alice feeling more confused than ever, and Henry torn between duty and desire, fear and love.

When circumstances become even more difficult, both Alice and Henry must decide who they really are, and what they are willing to fight for. Could Alice possibly the next Lady of Willoughby Manor?

I have read a few of the Willoughby Close series books now and I always enjoy them. Alice is a loveable character and of course we get to keep in touch with the other characters we’ve come to know and love. This book contains a lot of smiles and some sadness but it was the perfect easy read.

I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars .

Most book lovers have a bit of a thing for book themed accessories. The wonder of Etsy has allowed people to get really creative with what they can purchase to reflect their love for their favourite book.

I am no different in that sense and I love bookish items. I thought I would do a little post about book accessories.

Let’s start with candles. I love candles and wax melts, I mean I should I do make them for a living. However, I also love to buy them. I have made a fair few of my own (pictured above) but here are a few of my favourite candle stores. I’ll a throw a link to mine in as well:)

Burning Fiction
Meraki Candles
Geekette Creations
The next accessories are bath and body. There are a couple of stores that sell a range if amazing smelling products for your bath, lips, body.

Geeky Clean
Another much needed accessory is the very productive bookmark.

Book Coyote
Quirky Arts Here
Lovely Bookish
There are jewellery and charm ranges out there too.

If you search your favourite book on Etsy you will find such a huge range available. So much more than I could ever detail in this post.

I would love to know your favourite bookish accessory, do you purchase from a store I’m yet to try? Then please leave a recommendation below:)
