It’s Love..Meet Sandy

I have been wanting a Filofax Malden for a while now but could not justify the price of a new one. While I was discussing this with the ladies of my favourite planning Facebook group and a lovely lady called Dawn enlightened me with the planner I now refer too as Sandy.

Sandy is a Sandringham planner. Bought only via eBay and Amazon and it comes in various colours.
The layout and style is exactly like that of a Malden, even the pockets are in the same place.

The leather is smooth and smells like nothing I’ve ever smelt before, my room smelt like leather for days. It was amazing.
The major difference in the Sandringham planner is the rings, in fact it is the only difference aside from brand and price.
The rings are bigger allowing you to fit more in it than you can the Malden.
It cost £29.99 free p&p which is brilliant compared to the £60-ish of the Malden.

I am amazed at how much I have squeezed into her and there is still room for more. I have multiple sections and have added my Christmas part too now.

I have made her my own now customising her how I wanted and made my own dividers too.

I would highly recommend this planner to Malden fans 🙂

SAHM? Here’s how I maintain my sanity!

I am a very independent person, I have to be constantly challenged and my brain has to always have focus and purpose. My new role as a stay at home mother is quite possibly the most challenging thing I have ever done.
Throughout my life I have constantly worked or studied, my brain needs these things to keep itself from going on a wobble. I’ve never been able to relax the same way as others, I always have to be doing something at the same time whether that’s reading in the bath, studying while I watch a Movie I can never simply turn off so-to-speak.

I finished my work contract when I was 5 months pregnant and for a while kept myself occupied with preparing for a new arrival, getting our new home organised and doing some online free courses.
I have a few courses on the go currently but find it hard to apply much time to them as they require a lot of concentration which in fairness has ebbed away by the time the baby is in bed and I get some very rare non-mummy time.
My planner obsession isn’t just about Stationery and pretty things, it is a way for me to focus my mind. As any mother knows you change when you have a baby and children, your mind is cluttered with feed times, bum changes, school issues and so much more. Sometimes you just need a way to write it all down.
My planner is my lifeline, it’s my sanity. I write everything in it from appointments to relevant quotes, poems to to-do lists.

In order to try and save a little more of my sanity I have signed up for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWrMo ). The aim is to write a novel in the month of November,  preferably 50k words however that is up to you. I am looking forward to this as it is something which I can jot during the day at nap times etc as it requires imagination not rigid concentration.

I have got some books to read to help me develop my skills before hand.
I have Creative Writing for Dummies by Maggie Hamand and The Everything Guide to Writing Your First Novel by Hallie Ephron.
I have also got my notebook ready for my novel and I’m making notes in my planner.  I really cannot wait to start.

I would love to know what you do to maintain your sanity whether you are also a SAHM, worker or anything else!

Hope you enjoy:)

My Slimming World Planner

So I decided that I needed a little push to help me loose some weight and get fit and healthy.

I joined Slimming World and of course that meant I needed a new planner to fit my Slimming World books in.

I got myself a lovely orange a5 Dokibook. This is not the colour I would usually go for but I love it. Great for Autumn and Summer!

I have spent the last two weeks decking her out in all her finery.

I’ve managed to fit my books in there, daily pages, food diary, monthly diary, Fit log, recipe section and a few other bits.

I’ve made some extra dividers to keep everything nice and neat.

I use this planner multiple times a day and I love it!

Cutting my SW book wasn’t as bad as I had thought it would be and I managed to get it all in a straight line.
(Mega bonus points as I’m usually terrible at it).

I’ve even had some lovely stickers made up by The Geeky Planner to note all my foods and I use the Scale stickers from The Plump Planner to mark weigh-ins.

Anyway I have supplied lots of pictures below so people can get an insight into how I do things 🙂

ZLYC Blue Set:Review

I was offered the chance to take part in another review for a ZLYC brand Traveler’s Notebook.

I had been lusting after the blue set for a while so it was a no brainer for me to order this one.

I was amazed at how speedy delivery was. I chose standard 1st class from China and it was due to arrive within 3 days however it turned up the next day.

image

There was a pen holder, standard size and a pocket sized in the most gorgeous blue.
Both of these came with 3 inserts.
The standard size had a plain, lined and mo2p calender aswell as a zipper wallet and card holder. This also had a dust bag with it.
The pocket size came with a graph, lined and plain insert.

The colour of the books is amazing, they look different in all different lights and it is hard to capture the blue as they always look more purple in photos.
The elastic was perfect on both, not too tight, not too slack and came in black.

image

The notepaper in the inserts is of great quality, there is a tiny amount of shadowing on the back of a page if using a fountain pen but considering that these come free with the TN, the quality is great.

image

The leather is slightly textured and quite floppy without been too floppy. Smells divine too.

image

All in all I love love love these. The value for money is fantastic!

I spent a little time decorating my inserts too.

If you are considering purchasing these I would highly recommend them.
